Deep snow course on the Pitztal Glacier

With state-certified certified ski instructor & ski guide

09.12. – 10.12.2023

You are a powder beginner with first off-piste experiences and want to work on your technique? Then you are at the Deep snow course for beginners on the Pitztal Glacier. We work on the skiing basics so that you have more fun on ski tours and when skiing in deep snow. We also refresh your knowledge of companion rescue and avalanche search.

The focus is on the following:

  • sporty, anticipatory skiing in medium-length and short radii
  • Alpine driving training
  • Edging up, leg play, stable upper body, stick use
  • Adapt technique and speed to the conditions
  • Correct track selection & downhill tactics

The Pitztal Glacier offers us the ideal training area. Thanks to the altitude of up to 3440 metres, we have enough snow early in the winter and good conditions for deep snow training. We learn how to ski even in difficult snow conditions. With this course you lay the perfect foundation for a good start into the winter!

Programme powder snow course

Meeting point 09.00 Glacier Express valley station Mittelberg

We distribute the equipment and drive together to the glacier ski area. There we start with deep snow training. We start by working on the basics of movement and incorporate technique exercises again and again. The training takes place on the piste and in deep snow. In between, we make videos and go directly into the analysis.

Of course we also deal with the correct handling of emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe).

End of the ski day: approx. 3.00 p.m.

Meeting point: 09.30 hrs valley station Gletscherexpress

We consolidate what we learned the day before and continue to work on deep snow technique. As many off-piste descents as possible are on the programme.

Video recordings & analyses also accompany us today.

Of course, we also repeat what we have learned about the use of emergency equipment.

After a day with many downhill metres and burning thighs, we say goodbye to the Pitztal.

End of the event at approx. 3.00 p.m.

The programme is subject to change!
