The Samnaun Group is the name given to the mountain range at the foot of which the well-known holiday regions of Serfaus - Fiss - Ladis are located. The Samnaun group borders the old smugglers' village of Samnaun in Switzerland to the west. On the smugglers' ski tour, we immerse ourselves in the unspoilt mountain landscape and follow the old trails of the smugglers who used to bring coffee, sugar and tobacco across the mountains.
Guided ski tour in Serfaus - Fiss -Ladis
The smugglers' ski tour takes us from Masner, at the very edge of the Serfaus ski area, to Spiss, right on the border with Switzerland. On the way there, we can take one or two peaks with us, depending on our mood and the conditions. A taxi will take us back to Fiss from the end point of the tour. The smugglers' ski tour is a wonderful experience for downhill-oriented ski tourers who are looking for new routes off the beaten track.
Smugglers' ski tour programme
Meeting point: 08:30 am Waldbahn valley station in Fiss. We start with a short safety briefing and discuss the planned tour. We are back in Fiss at around 3.00 pm.

- Ski touring ski with binding and crampons
- Fitting and well adhering clamping adhesive skins
- Telescopic ski poles
- Modern avalanche transceiver (avalanche transceiver, 3-antenna device) with new batteries*.
- Avalanche probe and avalanche shovel (made of metal)*.
- Helmet (recommended, not a must)
- Clothes suitable for the mountains, a change of dry clothes, 1 litre of liquid, snack / muesli bar, a change of gloves.
For high altitude ski tours with glacier climbing additionally:
- Adapted crampons with frontal jaws* and ice axe (suitable for high altitude touring)
- Harness*
- 1x Safelock carabiner (or 2x screw carabiner)*.

Requirements
The smugglers' ski tour is aimed at ski tourers and freeriders who already have off-piste experience. Safe downhill skiing in all types of snow and a solid ascent technique are the prerequisites. Hairpin bends should be no problem. You have enough stamina for a day tour of 5-6 hours with approx. 2 hours ascent.
